  • What is Synema?
Synema is an AI-powered platform designed to streamline video production workflows. It combines media storage, asset management, collaborative tools, and AI-driven media analysis in one place, making it easier to manage, create, and collaborate on video projects.
  • How does Synema organize my media assets?
When you upload assets, Synema automatically organizes them by file type, both in your projects and in the assets library. Files are grouped into specialized folders (e.g., Footage, Audio), making it easy for collaborators to find what they need.
  • Can I add assets to multiple projects?
Yes! You can use assets in multiple projects without duplicating the file. Synema stores just one copy of the file to optimize storage, but it can be accessed across multiple projects without affecting the file structure.
  • How does Synema help with media tagging?
Synema’s AI automatically tags your footage based on content (e.g., dog, forest) and production-related parameters (e.g., closeup, natural lighting). You can also add custom tags, making it easier to find footage during editing or for future use.
  • Does Synema offer transcription services?
Yes, Synema transcribes all dialog in your footage and can even recognize and differentiate between speakers. You can label speakers and assign faces to transcripts for a more intuitive review process.
  • Can I export projects to external editing tools like Premiere?
Absolutely. You can export your StoryCut project as an XML file and import it into Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or Davinci Resolve for more advanced editing. All the footage and transcripts will already be organized in your timeline.
  • What is StoryCut?
StoryCut is Synema’s collaborative video-building tool that allows users to build videos by dragging and dropping sections of transcripts, adding b-roll, and previewing work-in-progress edits in real-time. It’s designed to be intuitive, even for those without video editing experience.
  • Can I share projects with people outside my team?
Yes! Synema allows you to share a public link for feedback without needing to add users to your account. Public viewers can comment on drafts, but they won’t have access to upload or download files.
  • How do I collaborate with others in Synema?
You can add Team Members, who get full access to your account, or Collaborators, who are limited to specific projects. Collaborators can upload, download, comment, and use Synema’s full toolset within the projects they are added to.
  • What storage options are available for completed projects?
Soon, Synema will allow users to transfer media to clients after a project is completed or have clients cover the cost of ongoing storage. This way, creators don’t have to pay for client storage long-term, and clients can safely store, view, and use their media.
  • How does Synema handle storage for multiple clients?
Synema keeps media organized by Client, making it easy to view and manage storage by client. This is especially useful for freelancers and agencies managing multiple projects for different clients.
  • What are proxies, and how do they help with storage?
When you upload large files, Synema generates smaller proxy versions that editors can download for faster access. This helps remote teams work more efficiently without overloading their systems with large files.
  • How does Synema handle client projects?
Synema allows you to create separate environments for each client, keeping projects and media organized and distinct. This makes it easy to manage multiple clients and ensure that each client’s media stays secure and easy to access.
